ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM RULES

  1. Athletes must have a completed BU Physical and Medical Insurance form on file with the Athletic Trainers prior to any sport participation.
  2. Only Varsity Athletes will be treated in the Athletic Training Room. (no club or intramural sports)
  3. Athletes must shower prior to entering the training room post-practice (unless emergency)
  4. All athletes must be signed in when entering the training room for treatment.
  5. No athlete may administer treatment to him or herself or to anyone else.
  6. Supplies and/or equipment are not to be removed from the training room without permission from a staff athletic trainer(i.e. tape, scissors, medications, exercise equip., etc...)
  7. Treatment will be administered as directed by a staff athletic trainer after evaluation. These treatments are to be scheduled between 10:00 am and 2:00pm Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring seasons, and between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm Monday through Friday during the Winter season.
  8. No Cleats - No Profanity - No Loitering - No Tobacco products in the athletic training room.
  9. This is a co-ed facility. Proper dress is required (decent t-shirt, shorts, etc...)
  10. Taping and treatment will be on a 1st come, 1st serve order, regardless of gender or sport. In-season sports will receive priority. Arrive Early before practice. It will be your responsibility to get to practice on time. Do not use the athletic trainers as an excuse for late arrival to practice.
  11. Please leave equipment and personal bags outside of the training room.
  12. It is your responsibility as an athlete to report all athletic injuries/illnesses to a staff athletic trainer. Failure to do so will invalidate any insurance coverage by the University. It is also your responsibility to wear any required protective equipment such as mouth guards, shin guards, pads, or helmets properly fitted to you.
  13. Report all prescription medications and over-the-counter nutritional supplements you may be using to a staff athletic trainer. False information on supplements could result in a positive drug test for banned substances contained in the product. Athletes face positive drug test penalties in these cases.
  14. The staff and students are committed to providing athletes with the best possible health care. Please treat our staff and student athletic trainers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner. Failure to do so will revoke training room privileges.
  15. Please respect and return University property including water bottles, coolers, etc...
  16. Cell Phones are forbidden in the Athletic Training room. This is to ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all athletes who enter.

**Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in your removal from the athletic training room.**

 

TRAINING ROOM HOURS

 

Fall and Spring Season:

  • Monday - Friday:
  • 10:00am - 2:00pm: Injury Evaluation, Treatment, and rehabilitation
  • 2:00pm - 3:30pm: Pre-practice taping and preparation
  • 3:30 - end of events: Practice and game coverage only

If you have a legitimate schedule conflict please contact us in advance and we will work out a treatment time with you.

Weekends:

  • There is no designated treatment time - we are here on weekends ONLY for teams who have a practice or game.
  • Ignorance is not an excuse for missing treatment time
  • If you do not come in for treatment, then you are full go for practice

Taping:

You must be here at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of your practice to be taped - the Athletic Training Staff is not to be used as an excuse for being late to practice.

**WE DO NOT TAPE/SPAT SHOES

Winter Season:

  • Monday - Friday:
  • 11:00am - 7:00pm: Injury Evaluation, Treatment, and rehabilitation
  • 7:00 pm - End of event: Event coverage only.
  • No extensive treatments or rehabilitation will be done after 7:00 pm due to limited staff late at night.

**The Athletic Training Room is not open on weekends for treatment and rehabilitation**

 

 

VISITING TEAM INFORMATION

All in-season visiting athletic teams will have access to the Athletic Training Room as needed.

The Athletic Training Room is open 2 hours prior to a competition and will remain open for 45 minutes after a competition.

No treatments will be allowed to a visiting team without a Certified Athletic Trainer present from that institution.

All teams will have:

  • Ice
  • Water
  • Bottles if needed (we do not provide cups)
  • Area for taping
  • Moist Heat
  • Cold and Warm Whirlpools
  • Modalities only if accompanied by an ATC

Team Physician is present for all Home Football games and Wrestling Matches

Ambulance will be present at all Home Football Games
